- Democratic Cheryle Jackson, who’s running for U.S. Senate, has tapped Lupe Fiasco to perform at a fundraiser for the candidate Thursday, January 28 at the Shrine Chicago.
- Jennifer Hudson will join Usher Celine Dion, Carrie Underwood, and Smokey Robinson as part of a 3-D tribute to the late Michael Jackson at the 52nd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, January 31.
- The local jam-prog outfit Umphrey’s McGee announced the release of several of their songs on the Rock Band Network.
- The folks that run the Empty Bottle opened a new bar Longman & Eagle which is a “modern take on a traditional Chicago Inn.”
- Gaper’s Block featured an interview with Goatwhore and posted some killer photos from their January 20 show at House of Blues.
- Festival News: the Rothbury Music Festival in Rothbury, MI announced it will not take place this summer, and Indio, CA’s Coachella announced its initial line up. There was not, at least to our knowledge, a single Chicago based act included.
