There’s nothing more beautiful than a Friday afternoon. It doesn’t matter that the temperature fluctuates so wildly that we can longer dress ourselves effectively or that it will probably rain. It’s Friday. And that’s enough.

Chicago’s all-female KISS tribute band, Slutter, are headed to your television.

Yes, Slutter, which is comprised of members from Chicago area bands Scotia Widows, The Maybenauts and Wanton Looks, will bring the rock to the WGN morning news this Thursday, August 26, between 7 and 9 a.m.

If you like your local morning news, sports and weather with a side of “Detroit Rock City”, “Shout It Out” or “Lick It Up”, then Thursday is your lucky day. All you have to do is watch (or DVR) it!

Also, you can see Slutter live in the flesh on Saturday, August 28, at Park West opening for Led Zeppelin tribute band Zoso. Tickets are available right now at Etix.com. Slutter hit the stage at 8 p.m. – so get there early!

If you are keeping tally, there is yet another Chicago summer music festival headed your way.

The Chicago Peace Festival kicks off at noon Friday, June 18, just south of the Lincoln Park Zoo at 1700 N. Stockton Drive.

The free three-day festival runs from noon to 9 p.m. each day and boasts a lineup of over 20 acts ranging from jam bands, electronica, punk, and good old fashioned rock and roll. Scheduled to play are the hot brother/sister duo White Mystery, female rock quartet Wanton Looks and punk trio Genral Patton and his Privates.
