Lollapalooza 2010 and Pitchfork Music Festival 2010 came and went, but if the massive festivals were just too much for your feeble little body and out of your price range, don’t stress. Many Lollapalooza and Pitchfork acts have already booked return trips to the windy city.
First up, Wavves brings their brand of noisy surf pop to Lincoln Hall on September 12 (I guess the 90-day radius clause has been eased?). Also, Cymbals Eat Guitars will join The Thermals at Logan Square Auditorium on October 3, and the country-folk of Mumford & Sons swings its way into the Vic on October 31 a.k.a Halloween.

Tomorrow begins another Pitchfork Music Festival at Chicago’s Union Park. From Saturday’s LCD Soundsystem disco-punk dance party to Sunday night’s Pavement reunion, this one should be pretty freakin’ amazing. But of course you know all about those guys, and there’s so much more music to be seen before 8:30pm that we decided to focus on our favorite mid-tier acts, and perhaps through our clever turns of phrase, guide you in their direction as well. Pitchfork Music Festival has teamed up with Toyota Antics to sponsor its official kick-off party at the Bottom Lounge on Thursday, July 15.
Pitchfork Fest e-mail subscribers were made privvy to the kick-off party’s lineup Thursday night. The lineup includes performances by Neon Indian and Dam-Funk plus DJ sets by El-P, Dark Wave Disco and Kid Color.
In addition to the music, Toyota Antics will provide a photo booth, silk screen stations and an 80′s gaming arcade. Those ticketholders who elected to do will call will be able to pick up their tickets at the event.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show begins at 7. The best part of all? It’s free!

Pitchfork.com finally announced the full lineup for Pitchfork Festival 2010 on Thursday evening.
A partial lineup was announced in February and included headliners Broken Social Scene, Modest Mouse, LCD Soundsystem and Pavement. Well, tonight’s additions make Pitchfork 2010 one of the most stacked editions of the fest ever.
One-half of OutKast Big Boi, Wolf Parade, Robyn, Diplo, Major Lazer, Beach House, Liars, Surfer Blood, WHY?, Neon Indian, the Tallest Man on Earth, Delorean, Real Estate, Free Energy, Sharon Van Etten, Local Natives, Washed Out, Kurt Vile, Best Coast, jj and Chicago’s own Netherfriends have all joined the three day event, which takes place at Chicago’s Union Park on July 16 – 18.
Three days passes sold out weeks ago, but single day passes are still available at Pitckforkmusicfestival.com for $40.

Nothing says rock n’ roll like test driving a sweet new Korean import while rockin’ out to some of today’s top bands.
If your interest is peaked, then hold on to your odometers!
Kia Motor’s Soul Collective, celebrating the launch of of the all-new 2010 Kia Soul urban passenger vehicle, goes full throttle this weekend by offering free performances from Plain White T’s, Times New Viking and The Walkmen. The event is not only limited to live music and also offers art installations, video screenings and an opportunity to test drive Kia’s newest vehicle.
The event begins at noon daily and takes place this Thursday through Sunday at EnVent Event Space located at 344 N. Ogden Ave. Thursday’s show is a media/invite only event featuring Neon Indian and MoneyPenny (follow @KiaCollective on Twitter for a chance to get in!), while Friday’s free show offers DJ sets all day by Shala, Kid Color and MoneyPenny as well as a performance from Plain White T’s.
Saturday’s show is highlighted by a performance from Times New Viking, and the whole event is capped off by a performane by The Walkmen on Sunday night. Tickets for The Walkmen’s free show can only be secured by test driving a brand new 2010 Kia Soul.
