We were most definitely saddened by the closing of Chicago’s Headbangin’ HQ, the Ravenswood record store Metal Haven, earlier this year. But if you missed the store’s farewell show at Reggie’s on May 1, then a small glimmer of good news.
Metal Haven is released a slideshow DVD-R featuring over 700+ photographs, including shots of the store, a pre-show party at the store and the show itself, taken by a photographers hired by Metal Haven owner Mark Weglarz to document the night. Additionally, the DVD-R will contain some live footage of each band that performed at the show.

Say it ain’t so. According to their myspace page, Metal Haven will soon be closing their doors forever.
This is a big blow not only to locally owned record stores but to metalheads everywhere. I first came to Chicago roughly five years ago. When, early on, I happened upon Metal Haven by chance and saw the “Bark At The Moon” Ozzy doll in the window, I knew Chicago was going to be ok by me.
