Wabansia, believes in the motto: Go big or go home.</p>
<p>The revered music venue announced the lineup for its 15th anniversary block party on Tuesday evening. The event, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, is packed with powerhouse names such as Mavis Staples, Andrew Bird, Big Freedia, White Mystery, Booker T Jones, Jon Langford, The Eternals, Opera-Matic and up-and-comers Kids These Days.</p>
<p>The Hideout’s mega-watt block party goes on sale this Friday, July 22 at 10 a.m. <a href="http://www.ticketfly.com/purchase/event/54181?__utma=1.1030544811.1310438520.1310761947.1311131917.6&amp;__utmb=1.2.10.1311131917&amp;__utmc=1&amp;__utmx=-&amp;__utmz=1.1311131917.6.6.utmcsr=pitchfork.com|utmccn=%28referral%29|utmcmd=referral|utmcct=/news/43182-steve-albini-battles-williams-in-chicago-doc/&amp;__utmv=-&amp;__utmk=77446037">Tickets are $25</a>. Of course, you don&#8217;t have to wait for the &#8220;official&#8221; on-sale. WXRT is having a good, old-fashioned pre-sale. <p>It&#8217;s always a bit odd when a band cuts a new record and splits shortly after its release, but Chicago&#8217;s folky duo <a href="http://loudlooppress.com/news/puerto-muerto-release-new-video-set-record-release-shows-break-up/">Puerto Muerto did just that</a>. However according to some recent posts on their <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Puerto-Muerto/84747123337?ref=ts">Facebook page</a> the female-half of the duo, Christa Meyer, isn&#8217;t going into hibernation anytime soon.</p>
<p>First off Meyer is helping plan a brand spankin&#8217; new summer festival in our fair city. According to the logo and brief info from a Facebook note the event is titled <a href="http://www.facebook.com/notes/puerto-muerto/boulevard-bash-in-logan-square/386165553784">Boulevard Bash in Logan Square</a>, and looks to launch the second weekend of July. The fest is currently in the band-booking stage.</p>
<p><strong>(UPDATE AFTER THE JUMP)</strong></p>
<p><span id="more-8172"></span></p>
<p>Meyer has also launched a <a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Puerto-Muerto/84747123337?ref=ts#!/notes/puerto-muerto/christas-got-a-new-project/392993958784">top secret new music project titled<strong> Man is Man</strong></a>. <del>Why is it top secret? Because I honestly searched Facebook and google from top to bottom and could not find a Facebook fan page or group or any significant info other than t<a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/Puerto-Muerto/84747123337?ref=ts#!/notes/puerto-muerto/christas-got-a-new-project/392993958784">he small note from Puerto Mutero&#8217;s Facebook page</a>. Perhaps the project is still in the planning stages?</del> <strong>UPDATE:</strong> There IS a<strong><a href="http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=630991413&#038;ref=profile#!/group.php?gid=105861249450599&#038;ref=ts"> Man is Man official Facebook page</a></strong> where you can find out all the sweet details of Meyer&#8217;s new project. Go there and Like it! Yeah!</p>
<p>Finally, you can catch Meyer perform alongside <a href="http://www.bloodshotrecords.com/artist/jon-langford">Jon Langford</a> on Sunday, May 2, at the <a href="http://www.chicagoculturalcenter.org">Chicago Cultural Center</a> for <a href="http://www.explorechicago.org/city/en/things_see_do/event_landing/events/dca_tourism/ChristineTarkowski_JonLangfordPerformance.html">Jon Langford &#038; Christine Tarkowski: Thirsty Woman if you Drink this Water You&#8217;ll Never be Thirsty Again!</a> in which Langford and sculptor Tarkowski will perform their recent collaboration <a href="http://www.bloodshotrecords.com/album/thirsty-woman-7-single"><em>Thirsty Woman if you Drink this Water You&#8217;ll Never be Thirsty Again!</em></a>.
