Frankie Rose
Three you-don’t-have-to-sleep-all-day-champ reasons to get up and get down to the Empty Bottle tonight…
1. Brooklyn’s garage pop songstress and nomadic drummer Frankie Rose already has a pretty fantastic rock resume. Rose was a member of such buzzworthy bands as Vivian Girls, Dum Dum Girls and later Crystal Stilts. Rose struck out on her own in 2009 under the moniker Frankie Rose and the Outs, creating sparkly spacey pop music that twinkles and buzzes with each serious guitar rhythm and thudding drum beat.

Asobi Seksu
It’s the autumnal equinox, Charlie Brown! In celebration of the first real day of fall, we’ve got a fine selection of shows for your weekend party planning. We’re talking up The Hideout Block Party, Deerhoof, Asobi Seksu and much more!
Come on. Feel the Illinoise, already!

After completing some home improvements earlier this year, beloved Ukrainian Village venue The Empty Bottle is now auctioning off pieces of its old bathroom walls and hardwood floors for charity tonight.
The Bottle is hosting “Pee It Forward: Protect Your Liver, Protect Your Table – An Empty Bottle ‘Art Coaster Auction’” beginning at 6:30 p.m. to raise money for the American Liver Foundation.
Up for auction is a limited number of coasters (a set of four each) made from hacked up pieces of the Bottle itself. Not enticed yet? Check out this description from the event’s Facebook page:

And now three reasons to jet on over to the Empty Bottle tonight for the final night of Permanent Records’ five-year anniversary celebrations….
1. Bad Drugs are quite the noisy band. This local outfit churns out brutally abrasive, grinding noisecore (I think) yet somehow does manage to let some melody bubble to its clamorous top. The cleverly titled “Ga’an Fishin’” (which I assume is named after the Chicago psych group), is quite the cacophony until a demented circus riff at its center. On “Go Ghost,” the band goes in a more hardcore direction with lightning riffs and sledgehammer changes.
2. Mayor Daley, not to be confuse with Chicago’s former Mayor, offers a more sludgy approach. The distortion-soaked riffs are tension filled. But the band also sprinkles in art-pop dynamics such as on the the crooked pop-guitar movement on “Choices,” which keeps things interesting as Mayor Daley’s aural assaults are quite lengthy.
3. Finally, coming all the way from Oakland, are High Castle. These scuzz-punks bring out schzophrenic riffage on top of a tight, punky snare sound.
