If you want a free mp3 of their song “Salacious Love”, then you first have to go to Paywithatweet.com and pay with a Tweet or a Facebook post. Is this the future of independent band marketing? Free songs for social media promotion? Only time will tell.

Luckily for you, we’ve got your first listen of new MaM in the form of a new track titled “This Old Grand Machine”.
According to MaM member Danny Doom via e-mail, the new album is a concept piece or a rock opera about, “an aging, once-famous daredevil looking for redemption…” The track, “This Old Grand Machine”, does indeed throw back to the classic rock opera-sound of The Who’s Tommy or even the Decemberist’s last record The Hazards of Love with big riffs and dueling male-female vocals, featuring the talents of friend of the band Vanessa Harris.
Catch Milk At Midnight on Tuesday, October 26, at the Double Door (Dirt Room). The show starts at 8 p.m. and tickets are available at Ticketfly.com right now for only $5!
Chicago pop outfit Oh My God have a melodic new track for your listening pleasure.
Titled “My Own Adventure”, the song begins with a beat and bass line reminiscent of Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean”. That’s where the similarities end, however. The song is a piano-heavy, sleek pop song through and through with some nearly county-esque vocal hooks in the chorus. It’s perfect for a lazy, overcast Friday such as this one. Listen to the song below:
“Take Five” is a new interview series that will focus on Chicago’s ever-growing music scene by giving you insight on the city’s best local acts via the best source possible: the acts themselves. We ask five questions, and they give five answers. Here is the second installment featuring The Maybenauts.
Chicago glam rockers The Maybenauts have only been around 21 months, but from the look of their stage presence and sound of well-crafted pop songs on their debut EP, you would never know this to be true. Singer Leilani Frey, bassist Ellie Maybe, guitarist Vee Sonnets and drummer Emily Agustin write well, look well and rock well together. We recently chatted up Maybenauts bassist Ellie Maybe about the band’s foray into making music videos and their involvement with the Jane Wiedlin-approved charity Bowling for Boobies.
