
Centaurus are an instrumental metal band from Chicago. But, unlike those two rather well known bands that also fit that description, Centaurus do not dabble in the world of post-rock. Instead, on their debut record Pulse, they fully embrace all things metal. Well, mainly prog-metal. Picture Starless And Bible Black-era King Crimson fed a steady diet of Iron Maiden and early King Diamond. It’s speed metal with pop sensibilities at times. It’s, dare I say, jazzy, as well as full of ideas but consistent in sound. It’s defiantly metal in an age of cross pollination and you can not argue against that.
