Atoms For Peace
A bit chilly today, but we can make it through this, Chicago. Nice warm up tomorrow and then clear sailing to sunny 80-degree days next week. Wait a second. When did this become the weather report? There could be a blizzard outside and that wouldn’t stop the fact that there’s tons of live music to be heard.
This weekend is packed with great shows from Mission of Burma, Japandroids, Thom Yorke’s new group Atoms For Pace and so much more.
Lets get to it, shall we?

Chicago – by way of Dayton, Ohio – rockers Hospital Garden pay homage to their early 90′s alternative rock idols on its self-titled debut album.
If it were at all possible for R.E.M. vocalist Michael Stipe and Dinosaur Jr.’s J Mascis to procreate, that union would likely result in the birth of a child with the vocal chords of Hospital Garden lead vocalist Lucas Hollow.

Three reasons to strap on your snow shoes and trek on over to the Beat Kitchen tonight…
1. Reading Dawn Landes’ bio is like reading a who’s who of influences. Apparently you’ll find her style nestled comfortably between the grand old dames of country, the White Stripes, the Black Keys, Pavement and Cat Power. (Editor’s note: You might also recognize her song “Straight Lines” from that Chrysler commercial.)
