GG Stanley (Gina Knapik) performs with Slutter - an all-female tribute to KISS - at Liar's Club in Chicago, Ill., on March 4, 2010.

“You wanted the breast; you got the breast,” roared the emcee at Liar’s Club just before Slutter – the all-female tribute to KISS – burst into the opening chords of the KISS classic “Strutter.”

Slutter is comprised of four hard rocking ladies from such Chicago groups as Scotia Widows, Wanton Looks, Maybenauts and The Handcuffs. Dressed in tight black body suits with plenty of silver accessories and complete with full makeup, the ladies of Slutter gave the crowd what they wanted, the very best of KISS from 1975’s classic anthem “Rock and Roll All Nite” to 1977’s “Love Gun.”

At the set’s midpoint, Slutter drummer Peterless Criss (Jennifer San Juan) emerged from behind the kit to perform the ballad “Beth.” Criss, armed with a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath, handed out a single rose to several people in the front row before her time upfront was over.

Despite the various sound issues, such as Ace SHEley’s (Susie Winn) barely audible guitar and Gina “GG Stanley” Knapik’s faint vocals during portions of the set, the band amazed and delighted the tightly packed crowd at Liar’s Club. Several in the audience eagerly sang along to “Shout It Out Loud” and “Rock and Roll All Nite.”

As Slutter’s set neared its end, a changing of the guard, of sorts, began. The crowd was seeing double as Va-Gene Simmons (Ellie Maybe) pushed her way toward the stage to take over for Chloe F. Orwell’s Tiny Gene Simmons. A brawl ensued between the two Genes, both equipped with what appeared to be black pillows. The two fought until a roadie split them apart.

Chloe F. Orwell and Ellie Maybe perform as Gene Simmons with the all-female KISS tribute band, Slutter, at Liar's Club in Chicago, IL, on March 4, 2010.

While Orwell’s Simmons paid homage to his penchant for guitar thrusts and tongue-waging, Maybe’s Simmons paid homage to his theatrics, spitting fake blood and oozing sex appeal while doling out an icy cold stare to those in the crowd. For her first song on lead vocals, Maybe nailed the Simmons classic “Calling Dr. Love.”

Thursday’s show at Liar’s Club was all about having fun, dressing up in tight black outfits and rocking out to the greatest band on earth, KISS. With a check list like that, Slutter more than delivered.
