With so many micro-genres and eclectic styles, it’s nice to see a band like Beat Drun Juel play by their own rules with pull-no-punches heavy rock. This past July, the band released the fantastic Suppressor on their Bandcamp, and it’s a record that’s brutally heavy and hauntingly dark in all the right places. The contrast between the abrasive riffage and rhythms and Donna Polydoros’ vocals works to craft an immense sound for a trio that can surely stand up to and topple any of today’s popular hard rockers. In episode seven of the Loud Loop Podcast, I chatted with all three of Beat Drun Juel’s members – Donna, Jesse and Matt – about the band’s formation, their new record and the origin of their peculiar name. Right after our conversation, give a listen to their new Loud Loop-exclusive jam, “Built”. You can also download the track for free below or stream it in the Bandcamp sidebar to the right. Happy Listening!
