If you’re into the local Chicago scene and haven’t heard of Swimsuit Addition, then you haven’t been paying attention. This foursome craft some of the best “bubblepunk,” “brat-pop,” “goth-surf,” “pysch-grunge,” and “weirdo-wave” music in the city (their words, not mine). But seriously, the band’s ever-evolving art-rock stylings make them not only exciting to listen to, but a fantastic stage band as well. Their live shows simmer with a fierce, snarling toughness that comes off as powerful rather than intimidating. At the center of it all is Jen Larson, Swimsuit’s lead singer and guitarist. In episode six of the Loud Loop Podcast, I chatted with Jen about the band’s evolution, where she gets the energy for the millions of her ongoing project and and their new Loud Loop-exclusive jam, “Toner”. You can hear the track right after the interview in the podcast, or download it for free below/stream it in the Bandcamp sidebar to the right. Happy Listening!
