Oct
This weekend pretty much belongs to Riot Fest. and you can see our picks for can’t-miss acts in our extensive Riot Fest Preview.
And a reminder that Loud Loop Radio will once again grace the intertubes today, Saturday, October 10, at 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. CST on Radio DePaul. Once again, it will be awesome.
But here are a couple of shows you may not want to miss this weekend if punk rock just ain’t yo thang…
Nachtmystium
Ok, Chicago’s Nachtmystium just straight rule. They’ve taken black metal and added all kinds of elements of psychedelia and ambient music and created something totally unique and brutally heavy. Sunday they are playing the Beat Kitchen with another brilliant local, sludgy metal band, Indian. I don’t even need to say more so I won’t. Go!. – Ross Meyerson
9:00 PM. Sunday, 10/11. Beat Kitchen, 21+. $12.
Box Elders
Say metal isn’t your thing. Lame, but ok. Maybe perhaps you should then head over to the Hideout (http://www.hideoutchicago.com/) Sunday night for some good time rock ‘n’ roll with Omaha’s Box Elders and San Francisco’s The Fresh and Onlys. Both bands play a pretty infectious 60’s style of garage with Box of Elders leaning towards the poppy side and Fresh and Onlys the Addam’s Family side. – Ross Meyerson
9:00 PM. Sunday, 10/11. The Hideout. 21+. $8.
Also, just wanted to mention that Chicago post-rockers Califone are playing at the Museum of Contemporary Art tonight, Saturday, October 10, and tomorrow, Sunday, October 11. Both shows are sold out, so if you’re going to see thing, you’re freaking lucky.
