Chicago’s Velcro Lewis Group have their new record, White Magick Summer, in the can as they say.
The album, produced by sometimes Magnolia Electric Co. drummer Jeff Panall, will be released on CD, vinyl and the somehow hip again audio cassette.
When can you get your hands on their latest slab of R&B-infused psychedelic rock? Tuesday, July 20, is White Summer Magick‘s official release date.
Anyone familiar with the band, comprised of Velcro Lewis, Hawk Colman, Phil Hunger, Halden Spoonwood, Paully Rocco, and Lawrence Peters, knows that strange, mythical instruments often appear in their songs. This time around is no different as White Magick Summer features electric washboard, didley bow, and lap steel, which were all created or modified by the ones playing them. My interest is piqued, how about you?
Although July 20 is the official release, if you want to get a taste before that then head over to the Continental this Wednesday, June 23, for a listening party and BBQ. It’s Chicago, so the BBQ is mandatory. Additionally, you can catch the official release party 7/22 at The Hideout with Implodes, Brain Idea, and DJ Eric Colin.
