Pitchfork Music Festival celebrates it’s fifth anniversary at Chicago’s Union Park this year beginning on Friday, July 16, through Sunday, July 18.
UPDATE: Additional acts for Pitchfork Festival 2010 were announced this morning. The updated lineup includes Broken Social Scene and El-P who will both join Modest Mouse on Friday. Animal Collective member Panda Bear, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Bear in Heaven, Titus Andronicus, Freddie Gibbs, Dâm-Funk, and local favorites The Smith Westerns will appear alongside LCD Soundsystem on Saturday night. Finally, Girls, and local psych-rockers Cave and Allá will play on Sunday before the highly anticipated Pavement performance. I have to say, pretty cool of Pitchfork to add some local fair to the mix – something that Lollapalooza severely lacks. Also, just a reminder, three-day passes are sold out, leaving only single day passes available. More on that and the entire current festival lineup after the jump.
According to a press release, three-day, $90 passes for Pitchfork Festival 2010 have sold out. For those wanting to attend all three days of this year’s festivities, you’re going to have to pony up a bit more dough. Plenty of single days passes are still available for $40 – there are no two-day passes this year – which means it’ll cost $120 for all three days, but that’s still a considerable deal compared to Lollapalooza’s early bird three-day passes that sold out at $175 a pop last year.
According to the press release, the initial lineup of bands will be revealed on Friday, February 5. Additionally, the festival will be extended with Friday featuring a full slate of bands beginning early in the day rather than only four bands on Friday evening, which has been the case over the past five years.
Tickets for the fest, available in single day passes for $40 and three-day passes for $90, will also go on sale on Friday, February 5. There will be no two-day passes this year.Tickets can be purchased at Pitchforkmusicfestival.com.

in a week? that’s ridiculous. this year’s is going to be crazy packed. old guy isn’t looking forward to that
Don’t worry, Ross. This young kid (who’s old at heart) isn’t looking forward to that either.
This will be unfortunately over crowded. At least the line up this year is decent. Last years was crowded and boring.
I still don’t dig it that much. Sunday seems like the best day so far…even though I’m not into Pavement. Like I said, it’s cool they’ve added some local acts.
You should probably start getting into pavement
yeah, i like the local angle, especially cave. but the rest? still don’t care about anyone really. they really need to get a couple metal bans on board
