Mavis Staples is currently working on a new album with plans to release it in the coming months on the ANTI- label. The Chicago born R&B and gospel singer’s follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2008 release Mavis Staples Live: Hope at the Hideout is being produced by Wilco‘s Jeff Tweedy and recorded at the Wilco Loft.
Singers Nora O’Connor and Kelly Hogan of the Neko Case band will appear on the album which currently does not have a release date. Staples kicks off a tour tomorrow night in San Diego, CA at Anthology, with a stop at the Old Town School of Folk Music on Saturday, February 6 at 8:00 p.m. You can get tickets to that show here, and a complete list of shows on her tour follows below.
