As Ticketmaster recently started a new blog to try and explain service charges to consumers, Chicago folk singer-songwriter took to his own blog announce a $10 tour.

According to his website, Pug is hitting the road this October on a national tour that will find tickets for many of the dates at only $10 with small service fees or none at all. The only exception to the $10 Tour are shows that are promoted by non-profits and when he’s supporting another act.

Pug states in a blog post how this idea stemmed from a personal experience:

A few months back I bought tickets for a concert- which shall remain nameless- only to get manhandled by service charges and by their Newspeak cousins, “convenience fees”. The actual price was nearly double the face of the ticket. Half of my money was going to the band I loved, the other half to horse-thieves.

Pug goes on to explain that the process of reigning in ticket fees was very difficult. But he has negotiated to sell some tickets directly through his website. This is being tried Pug’s Chicago stop at the Metro on Saturday, October 16. The first 50 none-fee tickets sold out when they went on sale through Pug’s website late last month, but last Tuesday the Metro has allotted Pug 50 more none-fee tickets, which are currently on sale right now at Joepugmusic.com. Grab’em whil you can.
