Chicago underground hip-hop artist Idris Goodwin has released two tracks from his upcoming album, Break Beat Poems, which is set drop on April 6 via Stuart Geerts Entertainment.
Never head of Goodwin? He’s been rapping throughout Chicago for over a decade and was a member of the avant-hip-hop group the Farm Crew from 1999 to 2003. In 2005, Goodwin released his self-titled debut on Naivete Records and has appeared on an episode of Russell Simmons’ HBO Def Poetry.
Break Beat Poems features beats from Chicago-based DJ’s Anomaly and Lee Chest, and, according to the press release, the album is, “a sonic depiction of an artist’s transition from the noise and grime of city life to the quiet uninterrupted rhythm of the southwest”.
