Chicago alt-poppers Company of Thieves stopped by Daytrotter for a little live session. The group played four tracks from this year’s Running from a Gamble.

For what is usually a pretty laidback session series, singer Genevieve Schatz didn’t hold anything back. Schatz flew from zero to 60 with her powerhouse vocals on bluesy pop set opener “Nothing’s in the Flowers.”

Album single “Death of Communication” gets the stripped down treatment for Daytrotter, but there is no way to subtract the pure epicness out of that song. What remains is still quite powerful.

You can stream Company of Thieves entire set right now or download it for free in 128K MP3 format at Daytrotter.com.

The group is in currently in the midst of a serious US tour. However, if you’re jonesing for a Company of Thieves fix the band will open for Tokyo Police Club at the Egyptian Theatre in Dekalb on Sept. 10.
