Three wait-are-those-70′s,-like-high-70′s,-I see-coming-midweek reasons to find your sunglasses and stumble on over to the Empty Bottle tonight…

1. Cincinnatti’s The Lions Rampant play what one might call garage rock. I know what you’re thinking. I’m not even going to bother to tell you what it is, though. The thing is The Lions Rampant don’t just chug out sloppy riffs drenched in fuzz (not that there’s anything wrong with that). They write pop songs and then drench them in fuzz and swampy keyboards and that my friends is a lovely combination. You might even hear something you and your extra special lady friend can slow dance to. Awwww. Just don’t do it in front of me.

2. Because I love the way folks try to describe a band’s sound, especially when the band does it, I quote The Lions Rampant themselves, “60s garage pop created by the Clash if they had listened to a lot of Grunge in the 90s.” Really, I’m just happy that they acknowledged grunge’s legacy despite its sort of dated irrelevancy in today’s scene. Long live grunge! And bring on the guitars.

3. Rounding out this free (did I mention it was free?) bill are the acoustically leaning Hardy Mums and the sweetly innocent Half Rats singing songs about, what else, girls. That never gets stale no matter how old you get. Oh, girls.

9:30 p.m. Monday 3/29. Empty Bottle. 21+. FREE!!!!
