Wet Heat sound like the soundtrack to some drunken debauchery. Crusty guitars, bucket'o vocals and loose beats power the outfit's grimy rock 'n' roll, which actually has a bit of an anthemic swagger to it. The songs on their latest release,
Helter Swelter, aren't the tightest around but make up for it with rambunctious energy that is nicely captured in the low quality recordings. "Party Time 2004" starts with a wild rant before launching into the chunky rhythm and fat riffs, while "Point Break" is a bit of a bouncier number with that's covered with warbling, drunken yells. And while I can't tell if Wet Heat's general attitude is "Wanna Party" or "Wanna Fight," does it really matter?
