1. This is his (or should I say “their” since he has officially added The New Folk to his name) first show after a two month break so you know he/they are itching to get at it again.

2. Seeing as they are working on a new album it is very possible those familiar with Kessler will get some new tunes for their ears. According to Kessler, from his RedEye interview, the New Folk have had more influence on the new songs: “I sort of give everyone the chance to let their [musical] instincts take over when a song is first conceived and build the song upon whatever happens naturally in the moment.”

3. It’s all gloomy again and some nice, warm alt-folk-pop is like comfort food for you and the perfect soundtrack for an overcast day. Did I mention Kessler is from Chicago? As always, support for your local scene is crucial.
