Tiger Bones
1. Often times we here at LLP review an album, and then, well what do you know, that band comes around to play a show. This would be one of those magical times. New guy Ian Jones just wrote up quite a favorable review of the new EP from Chicago’s Tiger Bones, and now you check them out live. How convenient. There are multiple references to Joy Division in the review, and there is a darkness to Tiger Bones sound but somehow it manages to raise above the gloom and leave you with some good vibes. Dig.
2. Bare Mutants might not have any music for you to hear via the internets, but I feel confident you will want to check them out. Why, you ask? Well, thanks for asking. I’m not always sure anyone is reading. It seems Bare Mutants are a bit of a Chicago super group. One will find members of the Ponys, Mannequin Men, and the 1900′s within. Now you’re curious, I’m sure.
3. Austin’s La Snacks are slacker cool! Oh, that sound. That Velvet Underground starting point filtered through Pavement’s tweeked pop sensibilities. You miss the 90′s. I miss the 90′s. La Snacks clearly miss the 90′s. Rejoice! Indiana’s Apache Dropout open. Prepare you ears for some fuzzy, lo-fi psych.
