Three reasons to check out The Streets On Fire tonight at the Double Door…
1. Because The Streets On Fire were one of our 10 Chicago Bands To Watch In 2010. On paper, the band’s sound makes no sense. A dance-y rhythm backed by angular, almost synth-like guitars and demented rambling? But when everything comes together, such as on their impressive debut release, Hot Weekend, it really makes sense and rocks damn hard.
2. Because there are three more bands set to play tonight. Carol Stream’s Gypsy Fly will bring their own blend of pop-punk and glam-rock to the show, while Chicago’s own Last Minute offer a more heavy acoustic-based sound reminiscent of Days Of The New. Headlining the show will be Chicago post-punk outfit Gunner’s Daughter.
3. Because it’s called “No Dough Rock Show” for a reason. The show is free. That’s right, kick ass local groups melting your face all night long for no charge. It doesn’t get better than that.
8:30 PM. Wednesday, 1/27. The Double Door. 21+. FREE!
