Ragtones

And now three reasons to forget what’s going on in Austin and just be happy to live in a city where there’s awesome music all year round and get to Lincoln Hall tonight…

1. If you’ve ever wanted to hear a roots rock band that’s also inspired by witch trials and alien invasions, then you should probably check out The Ragtones. Their sound, while firmly rooted in roots, Americana and alt-country, features modern production including tight drums, upfront vocals and indie rock-inspired keyboard play. The Ragtones present a fresh and honest approach to a genre of music that’s usually quite antiquated, and that’s quite something,

2. Tonight’s show also brings local indie outfit the Hemmingbirds to Lincoln Hall. Although the band lost their bassist last December and recently also lost their keyboardist, that’s not slowing them and their melodic, sleek pop compositions from slowing down. Want to learn more about Hemmingbirds? Then head to your local library Britni Day’s review of their most recent effort, Death Wave.

3. Finally, Elmhurst folky-poppers Mendelssohn and local crunchy indie rockers Shy Technology will also be there to rock your evening. Rad.

8:00 p.m. Wednesday, 3/16. Lincoln Hall. 18+. $8.
