The Cortlandt Homes
1. Chicago’s The Cortlandt Homes offer up the kind of rocking indie that made your record collection burst at the seems in the late 80′s and early 90′s. Are they drunk? They could be but that doesn’t stop them from bashing out Pixies-like ditties with reckless abandon. Someone has to and Cortlandt Homes are here to oblige.
2. Way back in September our own Richard Giraldi gave Blane Fonda‘s debut some kind words. Very kind words indeed. I’m certainly not here to contradict our fearless leader. I’m just here to tell you that they are playing and that you should check them out with your very own face. We appreciate you taking us at our word but there’s no joy in it for us unless you get out see that we usually know what’s best for you. Go. Get.
3. Anyone that hails from Rockford is ok in my book. Cheap Trick has made that city holy to me so even if Crankupmadonna were as bad as cranked up Madonna I’d be reluctant to say so. Fortunately I’ve no need to lie. Crankupmadonna play infectious indie rock that leans heavily on the melodic side of things. If you must have a reference point think Teenage Fanclub. Even if it’s not close at least you’re thinking about Teenage Fanclub.
8:00 p.m. Wednesday, 6/30. Ronny’s. 21+. $5.
