Sybris
1. Drummerless? Probably not. Well, I hope not. None the less, Sybris are celebrating their seventh annual Sybmas tonight. Sure, why not? Seems they’ve been putting the finishing touches on a new LP with metal producer Sanford Parker tweaking the nobs, so maybe expect a heavier vibe from these already heavy-ish kids. Perhaps some of that there new material will even be on display this very evening.
2. Bringing back the big shoegazey guitars and cool reverb soaked vocals of some of them classic 90′s bands you know and love so well, Apteka pull no punches. They are big, brash, and just guitar upon loud guitar goodness. You may have forgotten what it was like when “alternative” music ruled, and everyone just wanted to assault your ears with nothing but walls of guitars. Well, it’s time to remember and this Apteka are a pretty fine place to start.
3. Not dissimilar but certainly not the same are Secret Colours. Sure, that’s not really saying anything. Still, guitars are the order of the day and Secret Colours do not shy away from making sure their psychedelic leanings aren’t still full of chiming ones. These three are a pretty good representation of what was good years ago and is just as good today. The word “alternative” might have lost its meaning but the style certainly has not.
