And now three reasons to celebrate the big Bears win and stomp on over to the Empty Bottle tonight…

1. Sally Paradise hails from Montreal, but her Facebook says her hometown is Mars, which may be far more appropriate. Sally Paradise combines dream-pop, shoegaze and space rock to create lush sounds that slowly bubbles like lava from a volcano. All of which is featured on her June 2011 release, Aouu! that offers eerie, psychedelic trance takes (“Mademoiselle Rêve”) and darker, groovier pop moments (“Je n’aime Pas Danser”).

2. Félix de l’Étoile are also from Montreal, but approach things quite differently than Sally Paradise. Their brand of eclectic music occaisonally features helter skelter indie rock guitars and unwieldy vocals (“Brasse ton corps”) and other times injects world music elements into twitchy, electro-jams (“Le côté ombragé de la plume Icaroïde”).

3. And here’s where the locals come in. Two bands that seem to both be influenced by the gypsy and/or cabaret aesthetic. There’s Laughing Eye Weeping Eye and their sweet harmony and accordion-driven tunes that are practically vaudeville-folk. Finally, lest we forget Magic Key who is always a good time with their cabaret-styled, spooky drum-n-key tunage.
