Three Reasons to see Meat Puppets at Schubas tonight…
1. Do you ever find yourself longing for the old days of alternative rock? Well, then, the Meat Puppets’ three-night stand (Nov. 12-14) at Schubas is just what the doctor ordered. Meat Puppets may be best known for appearing alongside the members of Nirvana for their now legendary MTV Unplugged in New York performance, but this Phoenix, Arizona, “cow punk” band has been around since the early 1980s.
2. Meat Puppets blazed trails alongside their SST labelmates Husker Du, Dinosaur Jr. and Black Flag. However, it was their switch from hardcore to country-fried rock for 1984’s Meat Puppets II, which featured the songs “Plateau,” “Oh, Me” and “Lake of Fire,” that earned the band its fame. The Meat Puppets had further success with the song “Backwater” from 1994’s Too High to Die. The band released its twelfth studio album Sewn Together in May 2009.
3. Check out the Meat Puppets performing “Plateau” at Schubas earlier this year.
