Lesser Birds Of Paradise

Three laced-up-the-new-All-Stars-today-and-now-I-must-set-out-to-destroy-them reasons get some sun before heading over to the Lincoln Hall tonight…

1. Lesser Birds Of Paradise! It’s been so so long since I stumbled upon these guys looking for something to write about. Here they are again. I cannot claim to know what they’ve been up to as their website is not terribly current but they make some sweet, indie-folk, alternative country-like music and if that’s what they are still up to then you shan’t be disappointed.

2. Chicago’s Tell Your Friends sound a bit like a post-rock Talking Heads but don’t shy away from Pavement’s off-kilter indie pop from time to time. Basically they are willing to take from wherever their whims lead them and we are all better off for it. You’ll probably hear some Frank Black ramblings in there as well. You can find whatever you like. They are here to celebrate their long time coming debut, Swee Generous and would love you to join them. Won’t you?

3. There’s always more. So enjoy the melancholy sounds of the certainly not capitalized darling who might have a slight Built To Spill thing going on if you squint your ears enough. Opening is Los Angelese’s alternative hip-hoppers DJ Browntown. Yep, seems odd to me, too.

8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 5/17. Lincoln Hall. 18+. $8.
