JT and the Clouds

Three reasons-as-good-as-Kitten-Mittens to head over to Lincoln Hall tonight…

1. I’m no Tom Skilling, but today’s forecast calls for 80 percent chance of boogie as JT & The Clouds develop over Lincoln Hall’s stage. The Chicago sextet specializes in southern fried rock peppered with groovy R&B and gritty soul. JT & The Cloud’s latest album Caledonia sees the band crafting roots rocking tunes in the vein of the Rolling Stones or the Black Crowes. You’ll want to dress appropriately for maximum get down.

2. Despite the name, indie rockers Brighton MA are thoroughly Chicago-based. The outfit, named for frontman Matt Kerstein’s hometown, create melodic pop gems with strong folk tendencies that project an overall sense of yearning. It’s hard not to hear some Bob Dylan and even some Psychedelic Furs in songs like “Sunblinded” and “Bet You Never Thought.” Brighton MA has been hard at work on a follow-up to 2008’s Amateur Lovers and, if you’re lucky, maybe the band will test out that new material tonight.

3. And, finally, Michael Lux and the Bad Sons – our third Chicago band of the night – will ensure that this show gets off to a rowdy good start with their Replacement-esque snears and rhythms. The Bad Sons briefly sequestered themselves this summer to work on a follow-up to their debut EP Neat Repeater. The group unveils a new line-up equipped with keyboards tonight. Don’t miss it.

8:00 p.m. Thursday, 11/3. Lincoln Hall. 18+ $10.
