Apparently no one told Blackout Dates that rock 'n' roll was dead. Of course I'm being facetious, but damn, this group really knows how to satiate your head-banging rock fix. They flirt with heavy post-punk while maintaining a melodic indie rock foundation, and the result is a sound that will surely cause your hand to spontaneously throw up some devil horns. Their latest release, Beverly, is gritty guitar bliss with takes like the jagged riffed "Killing My Mind" or the bombastic pop of "Like Flowers."
