Arrah and the Ferns

And now three reasons to celebrate the big Bears victory by boot and scooting on over to Panchos tonight…

1. Arrah and the Ferns offer an indie rock approach so sweet and full wide eyed optimism that I wouldn’t be surprised if one of their songs soundtracks a pivotal scene in the next hipster-chic box office smash that will inevitably star Michael Cera. On their latest EP, Soldier Ghost, the Philadelphia outfit injects a good amount of country and/or bluegrass tendencies into their music as slide guitar, the occasional banjo and bouncy Nashville rhythms bring out lead singer Arrah Fisher’s quirky southern croon. 2. Wearing their hearts on their sleeves, locals Witch Feet deliver jangly, early ’90s guitar rock with a garage-pop feel. Their songs aren’t the most innovative or technically savvy, but they make up for it in their direct, no-nonsense approach that sounds straight from the gut. Or heart. LISTEN: “She Talks To Strangers”

3. Oklahoma City’s D.S. Yancey plays acoustic Americana at a furious pace that could just be considered…folk-punk? Sure, why not. LISTEN: Bradshaw Mountain And Gavin Ellis Wilkinson of Chicago folksters The Bears of Blue River kicks off the night performing solo, which if familiar with the music of his primary project, can get quite soulful. LISTEN: “Cry Baby”

8:00 p.m. Tuesday, 11/8. Panchos. 18+. $5 – $8.
