Three finger licking good reasons to make the trip to The Whistler tonight…

1. Chicago’s finest, the Andreas Kapsalis Trio, are back with a new album -- their first since 2004 -- titled Original Scores, which is full of manic eight fingered picking encompassing a world of styles and influences. Which brings me to….

2. To hear this trio is one thing but to see them is a whole other experience. Virtuosity is one thing. And this trio is stuffed full of it. That alone makes for some jaw dropping moments. But that maybe entertains for mere moments (I’m looking at you, Avatar). Having the tunes to match is what makes these guys special. So, your jaw may drop but your ears will be full of some pretty stunning, melodic, dramatic stuff. If ears could drop I suspect that would be the case tonight.
