In nine days the music, tech (or interactive), and film worlds will begin to congregate in Austin, Texas for the most important ‘conference’ on Earth these days, South By Southwest (SXSW). All of them will be traveling to Austin with the hope of shaking, rattling, and stirring up their industry by making their phantasms reality.
And The Hideout, who annually throws a benefit concert to help artists pay their way, will once again be sending off some of Chicago's best talent with a
SXSW - Send Off Party on Saturday, March 9th. This year’s lineup includes a diverse and wide array of talent, from all sorts of genres. Enough differentiation to ebb and flow like the Guinness and whiskey that will inevitably pour that following week for St. Paddy's day.
Kicking off the party will be Chicago's youthful lo-fi rockers
Twin Peaks whose brash brand of garage will certainly reverberate all of Goose Island. Followed by the indie folk foursome
Judson Claiborne whose
new record is expected out this week. Next up, will be the soulful sounds of the octet,
The Congregation, who recently wowed and wooed the audience at the
Chicago Mixtape Fundraiser last weekend.
Chicago veterans
The Waco Brothers, fronted by former Mekons front man and XRT DJ Jon Langford, will bring their wise alt-country attitudes to the stage after Local H front man’s solo project,
Scott Lucas & The Married Men. And after a long hiatus the Empty Bottle's former 'house band,'
Frontier,
who got back together in 2010, have put out delectable track after delectable track that has made this Loud Looper excited for more.
Summer Girlfriends have been making waves over the last year with their brand of Indie Pop and when they take the stage at the Hideout they surely will remind us of why Chicago is the best coast. Multi-media electronic duo
Mahogany will certainly dazzle with their introspective tunes. And if you are a fan of the razzmatazz of 1960s psych rock mixed with the more flowery side of the Black Lips, then you will not want to miss the must hear sounds of
Outer Minds.
And finally, to end out the night the rabble rousing mash-up duo
The Hood Internet will be pouncing on the audience, demanding that they dance their way to SXSW with them.
Tickets for The Hideout's Annual SXSW Send-Off will be available on the day of the show, Saturday March 9, at the door for $10. Find more information at
