As menacing a listen Murmur from Chicago noise rockers We Repel Each Other was, we quite enjoyed its paint-peeling, visceral sounds. That’s why we were pleased to find out the band have recently release not one but two EPs.

The EPs, titled sussurra?:?canta?:?deride and interruptions, are actually quite different animals. interruptions features only two tracks, the riff-filled “side one” and the spastic “side two.” sussurra?:?canta?:?deride offers three tracks that are, dare we say, accesible?

Well, let’s not go crazy. For We Repel Each Other, it does sound a tad more structured.

One we’re particularly digging is the opening track to sussurra?:?canta?:?deride, titled “racetrack jack.” It opens with a sludgy, nearly bluesy riff until demented, David Yow-like vocals gives the song a shot of creepiness. It’s noisy, heavy and abrasive – but never seems to go completely off the deep end. Listen to “racetrack jack” at the top left.

Dig it? Both sussurra?:?canta?:?deride and interruptions are free downloads, which you can snatch up right now on their Bandcamp.

Also, you should probably make your way to Double Door’s Dirtroom at 9 p.m. tomorrow when We Repel Each Other will no doubt obliterate when they open for The Black Box Revelation. Tickets are at Ticketfly.com for $8.
