In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past year, Chicago’s Netherfriends has been on a year-long 50 songs/50 states project, in which the psych-pop outfit, headed by Shawn Rosenblatt, aimed to play a song in all 50 states in one year. Now, the first recording from the ambitious project is about to be unleashed.

On April 12, Netherfriends will release a 7″ EP titled Angry East Coast on Celler Hits, which will feature three tracks: A1) Philadelphia, PA / B1) Washington D.C. / B2) Rehoboth Beach, DE. The 7″ will also include an eight page mini-magazine featuring journals and photos from the cross-country trek.

The first track, “Philadelphia, PA,” hit the internet yesterday. It beings as an swirling ambient piece before shifting to a more pop-fueled, psychedelic number complete with marching drums and candy sweet keyboards. Listen to the track at the left.

You can pre-order the Angry East Coast 7″ right now at Cellarhits.com and get your choice of standard black vinyl or marble vinyl (limited to 100 copies). The price for the record is $8, and that includes shipping and a download code, which will be mailed to buyers two days after their purchase beginning on March 21. The vinyl will be shipped on April 12, and, lastly, those that pre-oder the 7″ will be entered an exclusive test pressing of the EP.
