Chicago experimentalists Hollow Frames are the brainchild of local musician Fyodor Sakhnovski.

Where Sakhnovski’s lead project Radiant Devices is more free-flowing and wild, Hollow Frames appear to be more structured. Sakhnovski, however, continues to infuse multiple tastes into his minimalist pop compositions.

Lead single off Hollow Frames’ upcoming album, “Verge of Perception,” has an electro-gypsy pop flavor due to its heavy Spanish Flamenco rhythms, which are paired with electric guitars. Sakhnovski joins forces with his usual collaborator Mojdeh Stoakley, whose own voice adds even more layers to the gypsy-like dynamic because her dark and powerful speak-singing.

Hollow Frames’ full-length is due out Spring 2012.
