There just must be something about this time of year that makes bands want to play other people’s songs. Yesterday, we posted a Suicide cover from Disappears, and today, we have local indie rockers City States taking on “King Of Pain” originally by The Police.

Once again, the band doesn’t do a straight cover-by-the-numbers. City States makes the song their own but completely ditching the bouncy percussion of the original and instead uses a digital soundscape, and sweeping synths. Listen to the song below:
