The debut EP from Chicago’s low-fi, indie poppers Chaperone drops EP next month, and we’ve got your first listen!

The EP, titled Cripple King, was recorded last winter in the band member’s own homes including kitchens and hallways. According to a press release from Little Priest PR, the band used a variety of unconventional instruments during its recording including untuned pianos and space heaters to flesh out their sound.

The Cripple King track “Thomas!” is an frantic, analog-sounding ditty that rushes along with thumping drums and muffled guitar strikes until a whimsical, rainbow-synth chorus. It’s sure to get your body moving and could be an audible replacement to your morning cup o’ joe. Listen to the track right here: Chaperone – “Thomas!”

Be sure to catch the band at their Cripple King release show at the Subterranean on Thursday, October 14. Tickets are available right now at Ticketweb.com for only $8!
