Blizzard Babies‘ bandcamp description reads,”four cool and charming babes,” and based on their music alone, that seems fairly accurate.
With a sound that recalls the Dum Dum Girls and the sardonic tone of alt-rockers Splendora with a splash riot girl, this local quartet definitely rocks the girl power.
Their self-titled debut, available for $5 at their Bandcamp, features the band showcasing both their quirky side on tracks such as the rambunctious garage punk of “Drive Me Mad” or the flowery stop-and-go chorus of “Code Adam.”
But the band isn’t all hairclips and nail polish. Blizzard Babies get a bit more sinister on the slow burning waltz, “Beavers!,” and on our favorite, “BaBaBarians.”
“BaBaBarians” is a dark surf tune with a main riff that’s surprisingly heavy but does gain some bounce during the chorus. Listen to “BaBaBarians” at the top left.
