The last Chicago group I’d imagine to take on the Boss would be moody psych-crawlers A Lull.

But, yes, the band has done it. They’ve applied their synthy antics to the slow burning ditty “I’m On Fire” from Springsteen’s classic Born In The USA.

In the original some synth tones flare up near the end, but A Lull take it to a whole different level.

They add layers of percussion and crooked, digitized melody lines and delicate vocals to make the tune far moodier. And in addition create something that’s wholly A Lull while not destroying the original’s integrity. It’s definitely worth a listen, so check it out after the jump.

In other A Lull news, the band will rock the Subterranean on Friday, December 30, before heading on a West coast tour in early 2012. Grab tickets to their SubT show at Ticketweb.com and find their complete tour dates below.
