WATCH: Kid Sister gets “Big N Bad”

Coming off an exciting yet controversial performance at last week’s Downtown Sound concert at Millennium Park, Chicago’s hip hop heroine Kid Sister has released a new video for “Big N Bad”, the latest single from her long awaited debut, Ultraviolet. She’s definitely repping Chi-town hard in this Rik Cordero-directed clip as it looks like a fun summer day complete with a trip to the roller rink and a stop at local favorite Superdawg. WATCH: CAVE opens Pitchfork Music Fest with a bang

Chicago’s CAVE provided a must needed adrenaline shot to Pitchfork Music Festival on Sunday morning. If there was one complaint about the Friday and Saturday’s schedules, aside from Liars set on Friday afternoon, there wasn’t much in terms of big, noisy, riffy rock. Luckily, even after a 15 minute delay to start the set because of the early afternoon downpour that caught everyone by surprise, CAVE plugged in and chugged away with their psych-leabing, prog-rock antics, which thrilled the crowd at the Balance stage. Here’s a video of the band performing their song “Teenager” from their latest release, Pure Moods. Also, be sure and catch the band on Saturday, August 7, at the Hideout. :

WATCH: Liars cover Bauhaus at Pitchfork Music Festival 2010

Brooklyn outfit Liars played a vivacious set of abrasive, art rock tunes in their late afternoon set at Pitchfork Music Festival last Friday, July 16. They were the first act of the day to bring some noisy antics to the Festival after two singer-songwriters and a hip-hop group. One of the highlights of their performance was when they covered Bauhaus’ “In the Flat Field” from the 1980 album of the same name. We’ve got the sun soaked video for you to check it right here:

Chicago’s Killer Moon is the latest to be featured on the local video series Giant System, which captures local acts in their most natural habitat – the practice space. Killer Moon seems to have an affinity for 1960’s-era acid rock as their reverbed guitar, bass throbbing rock takes a slow burning journey through mind altering territory. Make sure to catch the band’s psychedelics to Metal Shaker on Saturday, July 24. Check out the video below:

Holy smokes! Did you know Pitchfork Music Festival starts tomorrow?!? In honor of this fact, let’s do the time-warp all the wayyyy back to…2009. Ah, yes, July 2009. The Gulf of Mexico was mostly oil-free, LeBron James’ heart was still in Cleveland and the Jesus Lizard had reunited for their first Chicago gig in years. And did they ever. Possibly the best Pitchfork Music Fest performance of the its brief history, the Jesus Lizard, fronted by homicidal madman David Yow, absolutely killed and left the hipster kids cowering in the dark recesses of Union Park…until Yo La Tengo calmed their nerves. There are tons of YouTube clips of the Jesus Lizard’s performance that day, but I think this clip of Yow stage diving during “Seasick” pretty much sums up the entire experience. Enjoy:

WATCH: Coltrane Motion call it a comeback

Despite having finished touring in support of their latest release, Hello Ambition!, Chicago electro-indie rock duo Coltrane Motion have just released a brand new clip for their tune, “Please Call it a Comeback”. The song is builder that begins tempered synth lines that eventually lead up to a busy, electronic-tinged jam-out finish. This Milk Products Media-directed video features a lonely man whose botched suicide attempts leads to a massive celebration. It’s positive stuff here, people. WATCH: Netherfriends rocks a house party in Richmond, VA

We’ve kept you up-to-date on indie-psych outfit Netherfriends, brainchild of Chicagoan Shawn Rosenblatt, and their attempt to play in all 50 states. Well, we now have footage of this ambitious project. Here’s Netherfriends taking it to a house show in Richmond, VA, with his older material such as “Tac Tac” from 2008’s Feathers and Dots and “Mom Cop” and “Really” from 2009’s Calling You Out. Neverfriends’ newest release, Barry and Sherry, is currently available for download at Netherfriends.bandcamp.com. We previously tipped you off to the fact that Beck has enlisted Thurston Moore and Chicago post-rock heroes Tortoise to join him for his next Record Club project. Well, word came out two weeks back that it was Yanni’s Live At The Acropolis that would be rerecorded this time around. And while the first video lacked Tortoise, they’re extremely prominent in this new video featuring a noisy, nearly free-jazz take on Live At The Acropolis’s track two “Keys To Imagination“. WATCH: Panda Riot rock the Subterranean

Here’s an awesome video of Chicago dreamy shoegazers Panda Riot rocking the Subterranean during the huge triple bill show earlier this month with Sissy Mena and Apteka. The clip finds Panda Riot making quite a ruckus as they move right along from their song “Suspense Kiss” into “Motown Glass”, the tune for which we debuted the video back in March. WATCH: Netherfriends’ stop-motion extravaganza

Chicago indie-psych artist Netherfriends, a.k.a. Shawn Rosenblatt, recently released his debut LP Barry and Sherry, and somewhere in between trying to play in all 50 states, he’s had time to make a video for the track “Brett Easton Ellis Novel”. The video is a fun stop-motion ride, but the track’s noisy lurches, pop tendencies and echo-y vocals really capture the attention. If you already have tickets to Pitchfork Music Festival’s sold out Saturday, then be sure to catch Netherfriends on the Balance (b) Stage at 1:00 p.m. Now go on and enjoy this clip:
